ADVICE FOR BUYERS OF ART. Original art has been created by the hand of the artist. This includes paintings and printing plates or silk screens created by the hand of the artist. Digitally printed art, and offset lithographs, are not original art, only reproductions of art and have little value. Each piece of original art should be viewed as a person and thus stand alone without regard for being a part of the decorating. Each piece of art should be framed to complement the art and hung on the wall wherever you want to view it. Any style of art may hang next to whatever other piece of art you want. When inviting guests to your home, you dont provide them with color samples so they match the sofa or other decor. Each of them stands alone as should each piece of fine art you hang on the wall. Many designers and art dealers are recommending art to compliment the decor.

This should not be how you select and hang fine art. Each piece should stand alone and be enjoyed accordingly. This is a suite of three pieces on World Cup Nordic Skiing. Because I scanned these pictures from a magazine ad, they show some of the offset litho pattern which is not present in the actual pieces. "NORDIC CHALLENGE" - Dynamically translates the power and speed of these athletes who are considered the finest in the world.

"AMERICAN BIRKEBEINER" - World Cup Marathon Cross Country Ski Race, held on a 52 km course in Wisconsin every year, is like the Olympics in one sport. "SETTING THE PACE" - World Cup marathon cross country ski racing against the beautiful setting of European mountains and Tyrollean villages. A magnificent set of extraordinary quality prints on hand made paper by internationally famous artist Mikulas Kravjansky. (formerly a Czechoslovakian ski jumper himself). Pieces are also available individually upon request.

The image and sheet size of each is 30" X 22". The edition size was to have been 150, plus 5 HC Roman Numbered and a few Artist's Proofs. However, only 60 sets of the numbered edition were printed; plus only 5 sets of H. And 5 Artist's Proofs for a total of 70 sets.

The artist subsequently retired and canceled the plates. The beautiful high quality prints by Mikulas Kravjansky are created by the old master technique of Intaglio on hand made paper with heavy embossing. Each piece is pencil signed and numbered by the artist. These are truly works of a master. Each piece is entirely hand made and thus each piece within the edition is unique, having slight variations.
